I am SO proud to be a part of and have my work in this exhibition!
I believe that the antiquated stigma our society places on illnesses that can not be seen is a tragedy. Many people do not receive or even seek the treatment they need for fear of being ostracized by society, friends and family.
A person with diabetes takes medication and makes adjustments in their lifestyle to accomidate their illness without feeling any shame imposed by society. Mental illness more than deserves the same grace.
Who among us does not make adjustments in our life? It is part of survival and the human condition.
I feel privileged to do my best to be a voice for the voiceless and disenfranchised.
If you live in the Pittsburgh area please find time to experience an exhibition and a gallery that makes social awareness a priority!
I woke up this morning, much earlier than usual, after not sleeping very well.
I walked to the window, opened the screen and sat on the ledge. All the while still in that place somewhere between asleep and awake.
The air was crisp in that summer kind of way. The sky was blue and the clouds were low and wispy. The bright lining from the sun was fading towards the edges of the abstract floating formations.
My first thought was………life is in the details.
Life is in the details.
